We here at SNÖBAHN love our employees and we want to show you why. Every month, we will feature a Q&A with one of our employees so you can get to know more about them. This month, we want to introduce you to Maria Salvoch. Originally from Miami, Maria is one of the assistant managers at SNÖBAHN.
How long have you worked at SNÖBAHN?
Just about a year and a half ago. I started about three months before we even opened; about around April.
Why did you decide to move here from Miami?
I just love the mountains. I was ready for something new. I had been living in Miami for such a long time. I really like skiing, mountain biking and hiking, so I thought Colorado would be the perfect place.
How long have you been skiing before moving to Colorado?
I had been skiing for about four seasons which is not very long but as soon as I did it I loved it. I wanted to be able to do it all the time.
What do you like most about working at SNÖBAHN?
Every day it's different so that keeps me very entertained and there's always new challenges. I love the industry too; I’m working with very active people. We all have very similar lifestyles as well.
What are the daily tasks of an assistant manager at SNÖBAHN?
I do a lot of everything. This includes communicating and coordinating with staff, scheduling birthday parties and events. I also manage rentals and retail. I also assist in marketing efforts, including programming. We hope to do more events this year.
Is there any particular memory or a favorite story from SNÖBAHN you'd like to share?
I think my favorite memory was when we took our team trip to Vail. It was really fun seeing everyone ski on the mountain. It ended up snowing a lot. The pass had closed so we weren't able to drive back. I remember we had just hired a new employee who wasn't able to go up to the mountains with us. We were all stuck up there and we had to be on the phone with him teaching him to open SNÖBAHN on his first day. He ended up doing a great job.
What's your favorite mountain to ski?
Vail is really fun. It has fun terrain. It's huge so you can always do something different. It's very spread out.
What are you looking forward to most this year at SNÖBAHN?
I’m excited for the new freestyle center. It’ll be fun to develop new programming for that area as well as testing out my own tricks.
